WEEK 8
Profiler: The web profiler is finished and the PDF file of the profiler has been uploaded to the ANGEL.
Storyboard Worksheet: The exercise was useful. It has been completed.
AACC template: I enjoyed this exercise because I was able to use Color Schemer, and Photoshop for the design.
Chapter 5 in Beaird: I found this chapter hard to read. The one thing I noticed was the ease of reading small versus large print in Georgia and Arial font.
Other readings: I will be going over the reading assignments and reviewing for the quiz tomorrow.
Week 7
Banner: The final-final version with flower art is included.
Animation banner: The exercise was completed. It is a powerful and easy technique for making animation clips.
Women’s Art banner: A design was created using Photoshop. This was a useful exercise.
Chapter 7: The exercise was worthwhile but difficult. I finally understand the elements in a CSS layout.
Lesson 7: I read the reading assignment several times, but find it difficult to retain the information. Chapter 4 in Beard’s book was very informative.

Comments on Assignments
Rollovers
I was not able to complete this worksheet using CS3. Will try to finish in class using CS4.
Chapter 6
This module was confusing and hard to do. The accordion example was rewarding, but took a few attempts the finish. The final product looked good on the Safari browser but was not fully functional with Internet Explorer.
Banner
I tried incorporating vector artwork in the banner, my drawing was a failure. It’s likr trying to teach calculus to someone who is poor in math.
Final Project
I put all my extra time on the project. The web searches take time and patience.

Description of proposed banner
1. It will be very simple but will use design elements learned in class.
2. Will consist of four layers of different tints and shade of green to signify spring.
3. Will used the 1/3 rule.
4. The logo will be in the first section and “This is MyAACC” in the next. White type will be use for readability.
5. Colors picked with “Color Scheme Designer”.
6. Will try texture in the sections.
Proposed Final Web Design Project
I am proposing a web site for my daughter who is a quilter and a jewelry maker. She would like a web site to show and market her creations. The prototype site would hide her identity by using her maiden name fake address. Real web and e-mail addresses would be used.
A five page web site is proposed: two pages for quilts, one for jewelry, an order form, and a contact-us page. I would coordinate with her on color scheme and layout. She would provide the description for item on the site.

Comments on Assignments
The exercise on Fireworks drawing tools was informative. With my limited experience with Illustrator I was able do go through the exercise. The use of the Property Inspector clearly made it a friendly set of vector tools.
The image rollovers worksheet showed how powerful the coupling of DW and Photoshop can be. Preparing the buttons in Photoshop would take some care but would make tedious job of setting up the rollovers easier.
I did not get much out of viewing Flander’s WPTS site. His ten tips make sense, but I prefer to look at pleasing web sites.

Class Exercise:
This project was easy and enjoyable, and yet informative learned more from it than the book exercise. I am using CS3 and found Fireworks to be very effective and easy to use. I will use it from now on to optimize images. Was our use of stock images from Getty legal?
I hope STE set-up works for me. That weekly set-up and Windows Visa have been the most difficult tasks for me.
Chapter 4 Exercise:
The use of Photoshop was new to me, an I can see that Photoshop has gone way beyond image manipulation. The storing of multi images on Photoshop layers is a useful technique and I will be able to use it.
The “background and foreground” nomenclature will be hard to remember.
The principle of using Smart Objects with PSD files is sound but it’s confusing.
